Unique Touch wins 1st. Place in the Joico Hair Fantasy Competition!

Innovation, imagination and painstakingly intricate finishing work were the key factors at play for the teams competing in the Joico Hair Fantasy Competition, Canada’s largest alternative hair show. The event was hosted by Lakeshore Beauty
at The Opera House in Toronto on May 25, 2003.

The Unique Touch team was awarded 1st Place for its magnificent interpretation of Nefertiti – Queen of Egypt.

At Joico’s Hair Fantasy competition, seeing is not always believing.

Nefertiti creation by stylists from Unique Touch Salon struck gold in the professional category.

“nothing is as it appears. Clothes are not made of fabric, animals are not covered in fur…your eyes can play tricks on you” says coordinator Donna-Lee Langton of the 14th. Annual event celebrating all that is wonderful. Weird and unwearable in the world of hair design.

Sixteen teams of professional and student stylists and makeup artists met head on recently at the Opera House where Indian princesses, ice priestesses and even a moon waling Michael Jackson strutted their stuff across the stage.

First place in the stylist category, a $700 prize went to Fernanda Amarone, Gloria Cajamarca, Elena Pires and Alice Antunes of Unique Touch salon in Toronto for their “Nefertiti” interpretation.

This hair fantasy featured an intricate arrangement of gold and black tresses, coaxed into gravity defying curls and palms. The model was crowned with three golden pyramids and the entire ensemble was delivered to the audience under the manpower of tow man servants.
